NTIDOTES TO TOXIC BEHAVIOR: THE STEAMROLLER APPROACH – STAYING IN TOUCH WITH ONE'S FLOW OF NEEDS
Undoubtedly, most of us would rather play in the sand, paint a picture, or watch television than sit down to do our laundry or income-tax returns. Those who are wealthy rarely discipline themselves to do a dull, tedious job—they simply hire someone else to do it for them. It is a nourishing attitude, and one with enormous antidote potential, to minimize the tedious, boring chores of life in whatever way is possible. The luckiest among us are genuinely fascinated with the way in which they must earn a living. But even when we are faced with a disagreeable job, we can still choose whatever work at the moment seems most appetizing or least distasteful. Staying in touch with one's flow of needs and being responsive to them is in essence an attitude of commitment to oneself to minimize toxic endeavors and to lessen the poisonous effects of the demands of unpleasant tasks that must be done.
